Mountain Golf and Country Club is one of Las Vegas' classic
golf clubs. While the recent boom in Henderson in the late-1990s
created dozens of new courses and high greens fees, Black Mountain
remains a true testament to the game on the course and in the wallet
and is one of the most affordable and unique clubs in the area.
Black Mountain is a "blue collar country club," offering a luxurious
place to golf for those looking for prime conditions, good service
and affordability. The club is semi-private and golf packages and
"stay-and-play" options are available for non-members.
The club plays a modest 6,550 yards from the championship tees,
short for today's standards, but still holds its own. It was also
the host of a U.S. Open qualifier years ago.
Greens are small and well-guarded, putting a premium on short-iron
accuracy and short game shots. Adding to the traditional feel of
the club, walking is allowed anytime at Black Mountain.
Despite being Las Vegas' third-oldest golf club, the conditions
always rival that of the area's top new courses. The club is owned
by the members themselves and has stood the test of time in a city
where few establishments can.
Black Mountain is located in the Las Vegas suburb of Henderson
and is about a 20-minute drive from the Las Vegas strip.
