Aliante
is Italian for "soaring" and the Golf Club does just that in the
center of the master-planned Del Webb community in Las Vegas. The
club opened in December of 2003 and was designed by Gary Panks.
The front nine meanders through hundreds of pear trees and shrubs that brighten and outline each hole. The back nine on the other hand features Mondale and purple locust trees, also featuring bright color splashes. Groomed arroyo plants, running along the fairway, are also evident on nearly every hole.
The course plays to par 72 at 7,022 yards and provides a variety of shot options for the beginning and advanced golfer and features TiffEagle greens small to medium in size. Numerous water formations, generous landing areas make the course truly pleasing to the eye and to the golf swing.
The subtly of design is one of Panks' specialties. Many holes have generous fairways and hazards have been used minimally in order to have a maximum effect on the round. Most holes look straight-forward from the tee box, but challenges loom on each shot.
Many fairways funnel towards the arroyo plants, which line or cross the fairway on 14 holes. Most bunkers are intimidating with large flash faces. They are steep and penal, and greenside bunkers often require strength and precision to make it out. Other greenside trouble includes swales and hollows.
Aliante also features a premier practice facility, including an expansive driving range, putting green, chipping area with green and a practice bunker. Lessons and golf schools are also hosted at the facility.
The clubhouse features a pro shop, grill serving lunch and dinner, bar and
an event pavilion overlooking the golf course and surrounding mountains.
The facilities make for a great place to host corporate outings
of any size.
